If you are looking for a child psychologist in South Delhi, this page tells you which of our centres you would actually come to, what happens at the first appointment and who you would see. The short answer is either of our two south Delhi centres, Malviya Nagar or Vasant Kunj, and which one is a question of your journey rather than of the service. Nothing is booked until you have had a free 15-minute intake call, which is with a clinician rather than a receptionist.

Which eMbrace centre South Delhi families use
Both our Delhi centres are in south Delhi, which makes this the one part of the city where you have a real choice rather than a nearest option.
eMbrace at Rainbow, Malviya Nagar, at FC-29, Plot No. 5, Geetanjali, sits beside Malviya Nagar Metro Station Gate No. 1 on the Yellow Line. It is the closer centre from Saket, Hauz Khas, Green Park, Greater Kailash and Defence Colony, and because it runs inside Rainbow Children's Hospital, therapy across occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy is in the same building.
eMbrace Vasant Kunj, at C-7, Sector C, Pocket 5, Grand Vasant Kunj, is the closer centre from Vasant Vihar, Munirka, R.K. Puram and Safdarjung Enclave, and carries the larger clinical team.
If you are unsure which to pick, the free intake call sorts it out in a couple of minutes, and we would rather do that than have you drive to the wrong side of Aurobindo Marg.
Worth knowing before you plan the journey: seeing a child psychologist starts as a small number of appointments, not a standing weekly commitment. The consultation, the parent history and the feedback session are usually three visits over a few weeks. Whether anything follows, and how often, is decided at the feedback session with you rather than assumed at the start.
For parking, the nearest drop-off point and the quickest route at your particular time of day, ask on the intake call. Traffic and parking around every one of these centres change enough through the day that current directions from someone who works there beat anything we could fix on a web page.
When a child psychologist is the right call
Most of what worries parents is developmentally ordinary and passes. What separates the two is not how bad the behaviour looks on its worst day, but whether it has persisted, whether it shows up in more than one setting, and whether it has started to get in the way of ordinary life.
- The same difficulty at home and at school, rather than in only one place
- A change that has lasted more than a few weeks and is not shifting
- Anxiety that has started to shrink what your child will attempt
- Any talk of self-harm, at any age, which warrants an appointment the same week
The longer version, including the signs that usually do not need a psychologist at all, is on our child psychology hub.
What happens at your first appointment
The first appointment is a consultation, not a test. Nothing is diagnosed on day one. You start with the free 15-minute intake call, then a parent history session usually without your child present, then a session with your child pitched to their age, then a feedback session where you get the formulation in plain language, a written summary and a plan with a review point in it.
Bring school reports and any previous assessment. If a class teacher or school counsellor knows your child well, their observations are often the single most useful thing you can bring.
What we see most often
Across the south Delhi catchment the picture is dominated by school-related presentations, which is unsurprising given the density of schools between Vasant Kunj and Greater Kailash. Refusal, exam anxiety, subject-specific avoidance and attention difficulties that surfaced when the workload rose account for a large share of referrals.
The second group is early years: parents of three to six year olds who have been told to wait and see, and who have decided not to. The third is adolescents, where low mood and social anxiety are the usual reasons and where the family conflict that arrives with them is often the more urgent thing to work on.

Schools and services we already work with
Some of what we do around South Delhi happens inside institutions rather than at a centre, which is often how a family first hears of us.
Our Malviya Nagar centre runs inside Rainbow Children's Hospital, New Delhi, which is why occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, behaviour therapy and special education sit in the same building as assessment.
We work with The British School in Chanakyapuri on psychoeducational, cognitive and risk assessments, therapy for children and adolescents, and workshops for teachers, parents and pupils.
At the American Embassy School in Chanakyapuri we carry out psychoeducational, cognitive, comprehensive and brief assessments, including risk assessments, and provide therapy for children and adolescents.
Where a child or adult needs psychiatric input, we work with Sukoon across Delhi NCR for psychiatric assessment, consultation and medication management, so you are not left to find a psychiatrist yourself.
Fees and timelines
Fees are quoted upfront on your intake call, before anything is booked. We do not publish a number because it depends on which clinician you see and what the work involves, and a figure on a web page would be a guess at your situation rather than a price for it.
A therapy course is reviewed formally at around session six, and we would expect you to be seeing some change by then. If you are not, that is a reason to change the plan rather than persist with it.
Frequently asked questions
Malviya Nagar from Saket, Hauz Khas, Green Park, Greater Kailash and Defence Colony. Vasant Kunj from Vasant Vihar, Munirka, R.K. Puram and Safdarjung Enclave.
Only for travel. The same pathway runs at both. The free intake call settles it in a couple of minutes, which beats driving to the wrong side of Aurobindo Marg.
A very common pattern in this catchment. Attention or learning difficulties that a small primary class absorbed often become visible when the workload rises.
That advice is sometimes right and often not. If you are no longer comfortable waiting, an early consultation costs considerably less than the year does.
Fees are quoted upfront on your free 15-minute intake call. We quote your situation rather than an average, so it depends on the clinician and the work.
Book, or check first
Start with the free 15-minute intake call. It is with a clinician, fees are quoted on it, and if we are not the right service for your child we will tell you on that call rather than after you have paid for an appointment.
