Child Psychologist in Delhi

Professional child psychology services for families across Delhi, at our Vasant Kunj and Malviya Nagar centres.

If you are looking for a child psychologist in Delhi, this page tells you which of our centres you would actually come to, what happens at the first appointment and who you would see. The short answer is both our Delhi centres, Vasant Kunj and Malviya Nagar, and which one is a question of your journey rather than of the service. Nothing is booked until you have had a free 15-minute intake call, which is with a clinician rather than a receptionist.

Which of our Delhi centres you would use

We have two centres in Delhi, and which one you use is a question of geography rather than service, because the same pathway runs at both.

eMbrace Vasant Kunj, at C-7, Sector C, Pocket 5, Grand Vasant Kunj, is the larger team and serves south-west Delhi: Vasant Vihar, Munirka, R.K. Puram, Safdarjung Enclave, Anand Niketan, Shanti Niketan, Moti Bagh and Chanakyapuri.

eMbrace at Rainbow, Malviya Nagar, at FC-29, Plot No. 5, Geetanjali, beside Malviya Nagar Metro Station Gate No. 1, serves the Yellow Line corridor through Saket, Hauz Khas and Green Park, and the drive-in catchment of Greater Kailash and Defence Colony. It runs inside Rainbow Children's Hospital, so multidisciplinary therapy sits in the same building as assessment.

If you are in north or west Delhi, either centre is a real journey, and we would usually suggest starting online and coming in only for the parts that have to happen in a room.

Worth knowing before you plan the journey: seeing a child psychologist starts as a small number of appointments, not a standing weekly commitment. The consultation, the parent history and the feedback session are usually three visits over a few weeks. Whether anything follows, and how often, is decided at the feedback session with you rather than assumed at the start.

For parking, the nearest drop-off point and the quickest route at your particular time of day, ask on the intake call. Traffic and parking around every one of these centres change enough through the day that current directions from someone who works there beat anything we could fix on a web page.

When a child psychologist is the right call

Most of what worries parents is developmentally ordinary and passes. What separates the two is not how bad the behaviour looks on its worst day, but whether it has persisted, whether it shows up in more than one setting, and whether it has started to get in the way of ordinary life.

  • The same difficulty at home and at school, rather than in only one place
  • A change that has lasted more than a few weeks and is not shifting
  • Anxiety that has started to shrink what your child will attempt
  • Any talk of self-harm, at any age, which warrants an appointment the same week

The longer version, including the signs that usually do not need a psychologist at all, is on our child psychology hub.

What happens at your first appointment

The first appointment is a consultation, not a test. Nothing is diagnosed on day one. You start with the free 15-minute intake call, then a parent history session usually without your child present, then a session with your child pitched to their age, then a feedback session where you get the formulation in plain language, a written summary and a plan with a review point in it.

Bring school reports and any previous assessment. If a class teacher or school counsellor knows your child well, their observations are often the single most useful thing you can bring.

What we see most often

Across both Delhi centres the largest groups are anxiety showing up as avoidance, emotional regulation and anger difficulties, school refusal, friendship difficulties, and low confidence. A meaningful proportion of these turn out to have an unidentified neurodevelopmental difference underneath, most often attention difficulty or a specific learning difficulty that was masked by a bright child working twice as hard as their classmates.

The other steady stream is school-referred: a learning support team or a class teacher who has noticed something and asked the family to seek an opinion, often with a specific question already attached.

Schools and services we already work with

Some of what we do around Delhi happens inside institutions rather than at a centre, which is often how a family first hears of us.

Our Malviya Nagar centre runs inside Rainbow Children's Hospital, New Delhi, which is why occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech therapy, behaviour therapy and special education sit in the same building as assessment.

We work with The British School in Chanakyapuri on psychoeducational, cognitive and risk assessments, therapy for children and adolescents, and workshops for teachers, parents and pupils.

At the American Embassy School in Chanakyapuri we carry out psychoeducational, cognitive, comprehensive and brief assessments, including risk assessments, and provide therapy for children and adolescents.

Where a child or adult needs psychiatric input, we work with Sukoon across Delhi NCR for psychiatric assessment, consultation and medication management, so you are not left to find a psychiatrist yourself.

Fees and timelines

Fees are quoted upfront on your intake call, before anything is booked. We do not publish a number because it depends on which clinician you see and what the work involves, and a figure on a web page would be a guess at your situation rather than a price for it.

A therapy course is reviewed formally at around session six, and we would expect you to be seeing some change by then. If you are not, that is a reason to change the plan rather than persist with it.

Frequently asked questions

Vasant Kunj if you are in south-west Delhi, Malviya Nagar if you are on the Yellow Line corridor through Saket, Hauz Khas and Green Park. The same pathway runs at both.

Both centres are a real trip from there. We would usually suggest starting online and coming in only for the parts that have to happen in a room.

Vasant Kunj carries the larger clinical team. Malviya Nagar runs inside Rainbow Children's Hospital, so multidisciplinary therapy sits in the same building as assessment.

No. The first appointment is a consultation. Any diagnosis follows structured assessment across more than one session and more than one source of information.

Fees are quoted on your free 15-minute intake call, before you book anything, and depend on which clinician you see and what the work involves.

Book, or check first

Start with the free 15-minute intake call. It is with a clinician, fees are quoted on it, and if we are not the right service for your child we will tell you on that call rather than after you have paid for an appointment.

Our milestone checker asks eight age-specific questions and gives you a domain-by-domain snapshot — speech, motor, social, play and behaviour — on screen straight away. It will tell you plainly if your child is on track, and it comes with a free parent guide either way.
